About The Refuge

Each year The Refuge welcomes in the range of 500 different young people through our doors more than 12,000 times. What this number doesn't include is the countless number of times we help our youth by going to doctor's appointments with them, visiting them when they are in jail, visiting them in their apartments when they do find a place to live, taking them to get a bank account... the things a parent should do for them, except they live alone, away from parents or never had a parent to help them learn to live life.

Historically, 92% of the youth who come to The Refuge have been physically or sexually abused. Home is not a safe place for them. Others have been abandoned, still others have developed negative behaviours from their home environment.

The Refuge seeks to be a positive 'home' for these youth where, in community, they can heal from their pasts and find a hope for the future.

Join us on Saturday, February 28th, 2026 for the Coldest Night of the Year where we can walk and fundraise together towards making a meaningful impact on the lives of those most vulnerable right here in our community.
